John Ballantyne House was the home of Janette Boyd and John Hill Ballantyne. John was the son of Peter Ballantyne, the founder of the Ballantine brewery, and became president of the family business in 1883 after the death of his father. Ballantyne died in 1895 of throat cancer. The house was built in 1885 at 49 Washington Street, near Washington Park in Newark, Essex, New Jersey, USA. Currently it is part of the Newark Museum and is open to the public for guided tours.
