The mausoleum of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin is a tomb monument on Red Square near the Kremlin wall in Moscow, where since 1924 the body of Vladimir Lenin has been displayed in a transparent sarcophagus.
The first wooden mausoleum was erected in January 1924, the second wooden - in May 1924. The stone mausoleum was built by October 1930.
At the mausoleum since 1924 there is a laboratory for the preservation of Lenin’s body, the bodies of several famous politicians from different countries were embalmed in it. From 1953 to 1961 the sarcophagus with the body of Joseph Stalin was located in the mausoleum.
