Piazza Grande is located in the historic center of Arezzo. Its picturesque architectural ensemble harmoniously combines a variety of buildings: from Romanesque and Gothic to Baroque.
Particularly noteworthy is the impressive Renaissance Loggia Palace of the 16th century, decorated with ancient frescoes. To his left is the elegant Palace of the Brotherhood of the laity with elegant loggias, and next to it is the Palace of the Court. On the other side of the square stands the Palace of Lapolli, surrounded by assorted medieval buildings.
Once Piazza Grande was the main market square of the ancient city. Now it hosts antique fairs and the annual “Joast of the Saracen” festival (costumed knightly tournament). There is a special atmosphere here that takes travelers back several centuries.
