The modern carousel is actually the fourth occupying this place in Central Park. The very first of them was installed there in 1871, and the next two were destroyed by fire. There are 57 drawn horses and two chariots on the carousel, and this brings joy to the children every day of the week (opening hours depend in part on the weather). The carousel is part of the scenery of Central Park, and you can recall it from numerous films or TV shows (for example, “How I Met Your Mother”). This is definitely a place worth visiting, even if you are not planning a ride.
