The Yenisei River is one of the largest and most beautiful rivers in the world. The river originates in the Sayan Mountains and, passing through all the climatic zones of Siberia, flows into the Kara Sea of the Arctic Ocean. The Yenisei serves as a kind of natural boundary between Western and Eastern Siberia, from south to north, it flows almost strictly along the meridian. The length of the great river is more than 4000 km.
Yenisei ranks second among the rivers in Russia by area of the basin. Three hydroelectric power stations were built on it: Krasnoyarsk, Sayano-Shushenskaya and Maynskaya. The Krasnoyarsk Sea is an artificial reservoir that was created during the construction of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Plant. In the summer this is one of the favorite places of recreation for residents and guests of Krasnoyarsk.
More than five hundred rivers flow into the Siberian river, the Angara River is considered one of the main tributaries.
