The Labyrinth of Orta Park (Labyrinth d'Orta) is one of the oldest historical parks in Barcelona. It is located on the territory of the former private estate of the Desvalls family on the slope of Collserola mountain, in the region of Orta-Girardo (hence the name). The park occupies a huge area of 750 square meters. m. There is a garden in the 18th century. in the neoclassical style, a romantic park of the 19th century. and the maze. This park is loved by the people of Barcelona themselves and come here on Sundays for a picnic when there is free admission.
In the Park "Labyrinth of Orta" they filmed one of the scenes of the film "Perfume - The Story of a Murderer" by German director Tom Tykwer.
The park was laid out in 1791, its authors were the owner of the estate of the Marquis Joan Anthony Desvalls and the Italian architect Bagutti. Later, the territory was expanded by a romantic garden with flower beds, gazebos and a waterfall, and by the end of the 19th century. Here they began to hold various secular and entertainment events in the open.
Until 1967, the park was privately owned, and after restoration it was handed over to the city authorities and opened to everyone. For almost 30 years, the “Labyrinth of Orta” park could be visited without restrictions, but numerous vandals turned it into almost ruins, and since 1997 they have banned picnics, ride bicycles, walk dogs and arrange ball games, and the maximum number of people who are allowed to simultaneously be in the park, limited to 750 people.
Today, dog walking and bicycles are still forbidden, but they have equipped a special area for picnics near the entrance.
