Natural Park Serralada Litoral - protected since 1992, a natural area in the province of Barcelona. This large green mountainous area of 4053 hectares is located between the Maresme and Valles Oriental regions of Catalonia. The natural park consists of the so-called Catalan coastal ridge and consists of three blocks: la Conreria, the massif of Sant Mateu and the massif of Céllecs. Serralada Litoral intersects two main rivers - Besos and Argentona. As for vegetation, typical tropical oak forests on the coasts dominate here, mixed deciduous forests in the valleys and alder thickets on hillsides. Also here grows pine, African oak, black maple, blackberry bush, many species of moss and lichen. The territory of the park Serralada Litoral was inhabited since ancient times, charcoal was mined here for a long time - so the volume and species composition of vegetation has undergone significant changes. Walking through the natural park, you can find ancient dolmens, remnants of Iberian settlements, castles and ancient farms.
