The monument on Victory Avenue was opened in November 1967, on the eve of the 50th anniversary of Great October Revolution. The tank T-34 is mounted on the pedestal, the inscription on the pedestal reads: “In memory of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The working people of Buryatia are front-line soldiers. ”During the war years, the working people of the republic contributed to the victory over Nazi Germany. Sovetskaya Buryat-Mongolia invested forty one million rubles from personal savings for the construction of a tank column; sixty million rubles worth of bonds were deposited, ten pounds of gold, eight pounds of silver.
